On Being Me .....
Hello World, and welcome to Kalena Smiles Photography. The purpose of this site is to share one of my heart's passions with anyone who cares to share in it with me. I am a 45 year old, stay at home Mom, who spends more than half of my life behind the lens of a camera. Although my style of shooting may not be the same as some, it is my earnest hope that you enjoy your time on my site. My goal is to shoot in such a way that the beauty which God created in this world is evident in the pictures I present. Using the gift He has so graciously blessed me with. Welcome to my small space. On Photography .....
Man is yet to invent the camera that can match the beauty seen in creation's images by the naked eye, but, being a photographer opens the windows to so much more than I may notice otherwise. My passion for photography comes from my personal relationship with my Jesus. Be it film or digital, walking with Him has taught me to slow down and become aware of all that is around me. Living in today's world, everything moves so quickly. Even the rural areas of the Great Plains are in the fast lane these days. We can easily see the beauty in a sunset, but there is equal beauty to be found in a traffic jam or on a crowded street, as well. You just have to look for it a little harder at times. It's good to stop and "smell" the roses every now and then, but there is enormous joy in actually "looking" at them and seeing the glory of God in their petals, as well as in their thorns. God's glory is everywhere and to try to see it the way He saw it at creation is amazing. To actually capture it in a photograph ..... is priceless.
